Galerie Arti-Shock is part of the Rijswijk artists’ association. I have been a member for years. From 17 August to 4 September I will exhibit in the gallery together with two international artist friends. Former fellow student Pauline El-Hajj from Lebanon and Angel de la Rosa who was born in Cuba but now lives and works in Curaçao.

In 2001 I graduated from the KABK in The Hague. It was at the academy that I met Pauline el Hajj. A friendship developed, which was complicated by Pauline’s return to her homeland Lebanon. Contact has been restored for a number of years and thanks to the help of Pauline’s family, it is possible to exhibit together. Pauline’s landscapes depict the beautiful Lebanese mountain landscape. In addition, we often see windows, doors and eyes that form an opening between two worlds, where the soul converges.

The paintings are supplemented with sculptures by Angel Luis De la Rosa Gonzalez. Angel is married to my childhood friend who emigrated to Curacao in 2007. Angel is originally from Cuba, but has been living and working in Curacao for years. Angel’s sculptures are mainly characterized by his fascination with the female figure. He has taken on the challenge of portraying the contemporary woman in all her strength and facets
